Mellow Mushroom --- Lone Tree & Centennial
I don't know if it is just me, but on a normal basis I am in the mood for pizza. To be honest, pizza is pretty hard to leave one disappointed. However, it is easy to tell whether you got good pizza or eh pizza. Mellow Mushroom was honestly the best pizza I had ever had, and most of our group felt the same way.
We headed to the location at SouthGlenn mall, back before the Lone Tree location was finished being built. I have been to the Lone Tree location since it has been finished (since it is closer to where we live), and it was very good too. The nice thing about being a large group that goes out to eat, is that there are a lot of different orders to try thanks to sharing. Our group was around 20 that night and 90% of the group ordered an individual pizza (4 large sliced pizza) and the other 10% ordered a calzone or salad. We asked our server what was their most popular "pie" and they said the Thai Dye. Since I am not a fan of curry I went for the Buffalo Chicken. Out of the many options we all shared and tested, the general favorite was the Gourmet White. I am normally all about having some type of meat on my pizza, but this is a meatless option and the combination of the sauce, cheeses, and tomatoes is amazingly wonderful that my mouth waters just thinking about it. We also noticed that the crust had a somewhat sweet taste (with all of the pizzas), and couldn't figure out what ingredient made them taste that way. We have since found out that they use molasses in their dough, and it is such a slight hint of sweet you would never know. Wow. Love. This. Pizza. Place. For those with dietary restrictions, Mellow Mushroom offers gluten free pizza crust too, with a variety of toppings. They also can cater to any vegan diets as well, so those that need to be choosy can know that there is another great place they can add to safe restaurants to eat at.
