Jim n' Nick's BBQ --- Aurora
One afternoon I had family in town and tried to meet up with other family here, but found out we went to the wrong BBQ place. Before we found out that we were at the wrong location, the staff was incredibly gracious and thoughtful and brought us a complimentary basket of their famous cornbread muffins. They are the perfect size for popping in one's mouth, and they are delicious. Because the cornbread was so good, the atmosphere so fun, and the staff so wonderful, we decided we needed to make it a meeting place for our next Eating Club.
A few months had gone by since my going there mistakenly, and I had since looked up copycat recipes for their famous cornbread. I had talked up Jim n' Nick's to our group and we were all very anxious for some good barbeque. About 15 of us made it that night and ordered a variety of Southern inspired options. Although the food was good, it wasn't great, and the service that night was nowhere near what I had experienced that lunchtime months before. I would like to blame it on a busy night for the servers, but it was actually very slow that weeknight. They were hospitable for sure, and the food was fine, but none of us ranted or raved about our choices, and I could tell we were all a little let down from the experience. We are still in the search for a good local BBQ place.
